B16. Shildon Surprise 2026

An absolute joy today to spend time with Richard Gibbon. After a chance conversation with my parents, he became my first boss at the National Railway Museum nearly 30 years ago, and a real inspiration on so many levels. He will be embarrassed to be described as a legend, but his ability to communicate engineering in a simple and understandable way has been something I have aspired to for decades and will never come close to. A fellow enthusiast for narrow gauge and miniature railways, any time spent with Richard is enlightening. We had a great day with many memories and laughs, and thank you to Tony Simons and friends for arranging it.
